Before Anthony Tomashefsky asked readers of his olympicherald.com website to fund his work with donations of up to $500, he operated a company called Advice Chaser LLC. Complainants alleged that the company collected thousands of dollars up front for services they said never arrived.
The allegations
The allegations entered the local public record through the r/PortAngeles2 thread "Monetizing defamation blogs - OH,OWD," a discussion that drew 45 upvotes after the Olympic Herald began promoting itself in Port Angeles-area Reddit communities. In that thread, commenter u/Famous-Finance9192 quoted a warning that had circulated online:
"The Author of the Olympic Herald previously operated a business called Advice Chaser, which has dozens of reviews from people claiming they paid between $6,000–$14,000 upfront and never received the services promised."
The comment linked directly to the company's Better Business Bureau profile. The same commenter opened with a broader characterization. "Anthony Tomashefsky has a history of scamming people. Look up his previous business 'Advice Chasers.'", which is that commenter's stated opinion, quoted here as such. The claims about the reviews are exactly what they are presented as in this article: allegations by complainants, repeated by a commenter, about a business whose operator has since reinvented himself as a journalist. A commercial data report independently ties Tomashefsky to the company, listing him as Advice Chaser LLC's contact at 11 Sapphire Place, Sequim, in April 2023.

The BBB profile today
TROH reviewed the Advice Chaser LLC profile on bbb.org on October 24, 2026. The profile is real, and its details are instructive:
- Business: Advice Chaser LLC, categorized under Financial Planning Consultants.
- Address: 40 Taylor Cutoff Road, Sequim, WA 98382-9202.
- Business started: October 19, 2020; BBB file opened December 17, 2022; "Years in Business: 6."
- Status: Not BBB accredited; BBB rating "Not Rated," because, in BBB's words, it "does not have sufficient information to issue a rating on this business."
- Services described: "financial, estate, retirement, college and tax planning services."
- Phone: (917) 470-9109, a New York City area code, attached to a Sequim business.
- Management listed: "Ms. Megan Coelho, Member."
One finding requires candor: as of TROH's review, the profile displays zero customer reviews and zero complaints. That does not erase what the thread documented, and it does not mean the complaints were never there. BBB itself cautions that its profiles "generally cover a three-year reporting period": complaints older than that window are purged from public display. BBB's complaint process has a second removal mechanism as well. When a business disputes a complaint and the complainant does not respond to BBB's verification follow-ups, BBB closes the complaint and it comes down. A complainant who moved, gave up, or stopped checking email looks identical in BBB's system to a complaint that never existed. Corporate records add a third factor: Advice Chaser LLC is now listed as terminated with the Washington Secretary of State, and BBB routinely retires the profiles of defunct businesses. The reviews the commenter linked were visible when the warning circulated. Their absence today is a function of BBB housekeeping rules, not a verdict that the complaints were false.
The address
The same commenter reported tracing the company's listed address: "The listed address for Advice Chaser was traced back to a storage unit on Taylor Cutoff Road in Sequim, not a business office." The BBB profile's 40 Taylor Cutoff Road address matches the street the commenter named.
What does not age off
Consumer-site reviews come and go. Court records do not. Whatever the current display state of the BBB profile, the permanent record contains this: on February 13, 2024, a New York court filed a $42,128 judgment against Advice Chaser LLC and Anthony Tomashefsky personally, after Revenued LLC sued both for breach of contract and breach of guarantee. A commercial data report places Tomashefsky as the company's contact at 11 Sapphire Place, Sequim, the same address where, one day before the judgment, an eviction case was filed against him in Clallam County Superior Court.
The pattern the complainants alleged, money collected up front, promises undelivered, belongs to the same documented period as the lawsuit, the lien-style UCC filing, the judgment, and the eviction action. The Olympic Herald's donate page now asks readers to pay up front, too. Its operator's last venture's customers, per the allegations quoted above, described what that can be worth.
This article relies on public court records and public complaints. TROH welcomes a response from Mr. Tomashefsky and will publish it in full.
