Starting April 14, Alaska Airlines will launch twice-weekly nonstop flights between Paine Field and San Jose, California.
The carrier plans to boost total seat capacity at Paine Field by half over the coming years, aiming to complete the increase by summer 2027. Service to San Jose will operate under Horizon Air, Alaska’s regional subsidiary.
Paine Field remains a vital link in our Puget Sound network, offering travelers a streamlined and accessible option for West Coast travel, said Andrew Harrison, Alaska Airlines’ chief commercial officer. As growth continues, the airline is deepening its regional footprint with additional seats, more frequent departures, and improved convenience for passengers across Snohomish County and northern Seattle areas.
In addition to San Jose, the airline will roll out enhanced offerings to other West Coast hubs. Los Angeles service will shift to larger Boeing 737s with daily round-trips, Portland will gain a second daily flight, and capacity will increase on routes to San Diego and San Francisco.
This coordinated expansion supports Alaska’s larger vision to expand regional connectivity while reinforcing its leadership among West Coast airlines, according to company officials.
These new flights reflect the clear interest from passengers for more direct, nearby air options from Paine Field, noted Brett Smith, chief executive of Propeller Airports. The additions not only provide greater flexibility but also underscore the airport’s growing importance in regional mobility.
