EVERETT. Danny Tetzlaff, general manager of the Everett AquaSox, announced Thursday that Nellie Kemp has been promoted to assistant general manager of the organization. The appointment elevates Kemp to an executive leadership position after five years of full-time service within the club's front office.
Tetzlaff praised the move, stating that Kemp has demonstrated natural leadership qualities since joining the organization, making the promotion a logical step. He emphasized the team's commitment to creating memorable experiences for fans, noting that Kemp understands how to ensure every game is an exceptional event. Tetzlaff further described her as a vital community asset and a dedicated team player, adding that the advancement reflects her consistent passion and hard work.
Kemp's tenure with the AquaSox began in 2019 when she was hired for game-day operations, initially working in concessions as a seasonal position. She transitioned to a full-time role in 2021, where she spent five years directing community relations and merchandise initiatives. Her professional duties encompassed the scheduling of Webbly appearances, fundraising activities for AquaSox Charities, ticket sales, merchandise management, and the coordination of special events.
During her time as Director of Community Relations and Merchandise, Kemp was instrumental in launching signature franchise events, including Education Day, Recovery Day, and the AquaSox Hot Stove Banquet. She also cites assisting the organization in achieving a record attendance total during the 2025 Northwest League Championship season as a significant professional accomplishment.
Originally from Marysville, Washington, Kemp was raised in the area and attended AquaSox games throughout her childhood. She recalls witnessing Seattle Mariners Hall of Famer Jay Buhner play for the AquaSox during a rehabilitation assignment.
