Ben Mavy is not a public official. He holds no office, runs no publication and has no platform. He is a private citizen whose entire public footprint fits in three items: a professional profile, a race result, and a court case, one he won.
Seventeen articles on olympicherald.com, the website operated by Anthony Tomashefsky of Sequim, mention him anyway, according to a name count across the site's archive.
The profile the blog never prints
Per his public professional profile, consistent across two independent business directories, Mavy is a financial-technology sales executive: co-founder and vice president of Advice Chaser, a lead-generation company serving financial advisors, from 2018 to 2022; head of retail sales at RetireUp, a retirement-income planning software firm; an early-stage employee at Riskalyze, the risk-assessment startup that became an industry standard; and managing partner at Off Ball Services, a sales consulting firm.
In February 2024, the Sequim Gazette's coverage of the Elwha Bridge Run lists "Ben Mavy, Thayne, Wyo." tenth overall in the 10K men's division, finishing in 46:52.22 among 131 finishers, a private man participating in a community race on the Olympic Peninsula.
What the court record shows
On Aug. 7, 2025, Mavy petitioned in Clallam County for a stalking and anti-harassment protection order against Tomashefsky; the matter moved to Superior Court the next day, under case No. 25-2-00595-05. A temporary protection order issued Aug. 12.
The full hearing came on Aug. 26, 2025. Tomashefsky did not attend. Court Commissioner Brian Parker granted the protection order, effective through Aug. 26, 2027, and explained why in an Aug. 27 memorandum:
"In addition to the petition and responsive pleadings, I considered some 55 pages of emails between Respondent and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, as well as other Lincoln County, Wyoming government officials. These emails contain extensive descriptions of Petitioner's activities, movements, location, and travel plans. Petitioner states under oath he did not provide this information to Respondent."
The commissioner found the conduct went "beyond merely reporting a suspected violation," describing it as an effort to pressure Wyoming authorities "to not only sanction Petitioner, but to arrest him in front of his children at a family funeral." His conclusion: "both Respondent's methods and his motives cross the boundaries of the permissible."
Tomashefsky moved to revise. On Oct. 21, 2025, Judge W. Brent Basden reviewed the record and denied the motion: "On the contrary, the record amply supports the conclusion that Respondent has engaged in this behavior."
There is also an earlier chapter the blog does not mention. In 2023, Tomashefsky filed his own anti-harassment petition against Mavy, case No. 23-2-00372-05, and a court denied it for insufficient evidence after a full hearing. In court, Mavy's petition succeeded; Tomashefsky's failed.
The omission a commenter caught
The Olympic Herald's Mavy coverage leans heavily on the Wyoming hunting-license allegations that Tomashefsky reported to authorities. What that coverage omits is the context the courts found: that the man making those reports was simultaneously the subject of a stalking and harassment protection order granted to Mavy, and that, as Parker's memorandum notes, Tomashefsky had "inserted himself" into Mavy's ongoing divorce case. Tomashefsky's girlfriend is Mavy's ex-wife.
Readers of the Reddit forum r/PortAngeles2 noticed the omission on their own. In the thread "Monetizing defamation blogs - OH, OWD", 45 upvotes, 11 comments, a commenter pointed out that the blog reported the wildlife allegations while leaving out the stalking case, and another named the blog's author as Anthony Tomashefsky.

There is one more documented discrepancy. Tomashefsky's own posted history claims six years as a manager at Off Ball Services. Off Ball's documented managing partner is Ben Mavy, the man the court found Tomashefsky stalked. A commenter on the Reddit thread observed that Tomashefsky's claimed role has no paper trail. What the overlap means is a question only Tomashefsky can answer; the documents are what they are.
The response of a private citizen
Mavy answered a campaign of surveillance and pressure the only way available to a person without a publication: he petitioned a court, testified under oath, and prevailed. The order protecting him runs through Aug. 26, 2027.
A blog can publish 17 articles. It cannot change what the record shows.
This article relies on public court records and public complaints. TROH welcomes a response from Mr. Tomashefsky and will publish it in full.
