Everett Community Transit will offer complimentary rides on its fixed-route buses and paratransit services for a full week starting Thursday, kicking off celebrations for its 50th anniversary.

From October 1 through October 8, passengers using standard bus lines and shared-ride services can board without paying, though microtransit shuttles under the Zip brand and vanpool programs will maintain their usual pricing, agency officials confirmed in a release issued Monday.

Other regional services, including Everett Transit and Sound Transit, will continue collecting fares as they typically do during the period.

The free-ride initiative coincides with the national Week Without Driving campaign, which promotes alternative mobility options such as walking, cycling, and transit use to highlight the experiences of individuals who either cannot or prefer not to drive.

Community Transit officially launched operations on October 4, 1976. Its board of directors intends to formally recognize the milestone with a resolution at its upcoming Thursday meeting.
