Federal prosecutors secured an indictment against former Clallam County Drug Court Coordinator Johnny F. Watts Jr. and Jonathan E. Karns, charging both with multiple counts related to drug distribution and firearm possession.
The six-page indictment, returned by a federal grand jury, outlines a series of allegations concerning substances seized and weapons found during a multiyear investigation.
Watts is charged in two counts. The first alleges he possessed a significant quantity of controlled substances—including fentanyl and at least 500 grams of a methamphetamine blend—with the goal of distributing them. This conduct is tied to events occurring around March 11, 2026. The second count centers on his possession of a Beretta Model 21A .25 caliber pistol. Prosecutors note that Watts is barred from owning firearms due to a 2008 felony conviction in Clallam County for second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
Karns faces three counts. He is accused of holding more than 40 grams of a fentanyl mixture with intent to distribute. In addition, he is charged with unlawful firearm possession, specifically a Glock 48 in 9mm caliber, which authorities say was used in connection with his drug trafficking activities. His eligibility to possess firearms was restricted following a 2004 first-degree burglary conviction in Kitsap County.
The indictment also includes forfeiture provisions, reflecting the government’s plan to take possession of multiple firearms recovered during the investigation. Among those targeted for seizure are the Beretta and Glock handguns, a Radical Arms 12-gauge shotgun, and an AR-pattern rifle lacking a serial number—all reportedly sourced from a residence in Sequim linked to Watts.
