EVERETT. A significant blaze consumed a wood debris pile at a recycling operation near Maltby, burning through much of Wednesday night.

Emergency crews arrived around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday after witnesses reported flames emerging from the pile on Yew Way, as noted by a Snohomish Regional Fire Rescue representative.

To combat the growing fire, three engine units were deployed alongside several water tenders. Staff from the recycling center actively supported suppression efforts by maneuvering excavators, loaders, and other heavy equipment to expose hotspots and spread fire retardant.

Firefighters maintained a presence at the site until approximately 2 a.m., continuing to dig through the debris and douse lingering embers.

No personnel were harmed during the incident, officials confirmed.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal has initiated a determination into the fire’s origin.
