MOUNT VERNON, Wash. Mount Vernon residents will need to look elsewhere for driver licensing services over the next few months, according to My Bellingham Now.
The Washington State Department of Licensing announced Tuesday, Aug. 18, that its Mount Vernon office is closed until early November because of ongoing staffing problems.
The agency said it will use the closure to train new employees who will fill several vacant positions around the area, a process expected to take about three months. Officials said the training should help keep staffing levels steady at all area offices so they can remain open more consistently.
Until the office reopens, the DOL is encouraging residents to take care of their business through its online services at dol.wa.gov.
Those who need in-person assistance can visit the next closest offices, which are in Anacortes, Bellingham and Smokey Point, according to the department.
