Investigation Launched After Cyber Tip
A wide-ranging inquiry into child exploitation, spearheaded by the Vancouver Police Department in collaboration with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, has led to the arrest of a local resident and coincided with the death of a prominent pediatrician. The pediatrician was discovered deceased in an apparent suicide one day after a warrant for his arrest had been issued.
The probe originated in February 2026 following the receipt of a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The information pointed investigators toward an IP address located in Vancouver associated with the distribution of child sexual abuse material.
Detectives with the Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit and the Children’s Justice Center subsequently identified a suspect. On April 29, authorities apprehended a Vancouver man during a routine pedestrian stop. A search warrant was later executed at his residence.
The Vancouver man was booked into the Clark County Jail facing multiple felony counts, including four counts of dealing in child pornography II, four counts of possession of child pornography, and one count of child molestation I.
Connection to Pediatrician
The investigation expanded after detectives learned of a relationship between the arrested man and a local pediatrician affiliated with medical facilities in the Portland and Vancouver areas. According to law enforcement, the pediatrician allegedly held "naked sleepovers" involving young children at his residence in La Center, Washington.
Authorities executed a search warrant at the La Center home on April 30, recovering various items of evidence. The following day, additional information regarding allegations that the pediatrician molested a child at his residence prompted the issuance of a felony warrant for child molestation I.
Before law enforcement could take the pediatrician into custody, the Vancouver Police Department was notified on May 2 that he had been found deceased in Lewis County. Officials attributed the death to an apparent suicide. A separate death investigation is currently being conducted by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
Public Assistance Requested
As the primary investigation remains active, detectives are requesting assistance from the community. Law enforcement is asking anyone aware of a child who may have had unsupervised contact with either the arrested Vancouver man or the pediatrician to contact their local law enforcement agency immediately.
Authorities have stated that no further details are being released at this time to preserve the integrity of the ongoing case.
