Snohomish County Public Utilities District officials are organizing a five-kilometer running and walking event designed to generate funds for residential energy bill support.
The Community Energy Run is scheduled for 9 a.m. on October 3. Participants will gather at 3301 Old Hartford Road in Lake Stevens to take part in the activity. Money raised through the event will be directed to the utility’s Community Energy Fund, a program that provides financial aid to district customers facing difficulties with their energy expenses.
While the upcoming event offers a new source of revenue, the majority of the fund’s capital historically derives from voluntary contributions made by utility customers. Additionally, the district expanded its funding mechanisms in December 2024 by commencing operations at a solar power installation in Everett. The utility purchases electricity from this facility, with the resulting financial gains channeled directly into the assistance program.
Individuals interested in participating can register for a fee of $45. Further details regarding the event are available at run.snopud.com.
