A 55-year-old resident of Sedro-Woolley lost his life following a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on Highway 530 in the evening of Thursday.
Washington State Patrol officers arrived at the scene shortly after 6 p.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving a bike traveling westbound in the vicinity of 300th Street Northeast, east of Arlington.
According to the patrol, Aaron Jones was pronounced dead at the location of the incident. Initial findings indicate that the rider was unable to successfully navigate a bend in the road, causing the motorcycle to strike a sign owned by the Department of Transportation.
The vehicle ultimately stopped on the westbound shoulder of the highway. Trooper Kelsey Harding noted that the collision did not obstruct any active travel lanes.
Records indicate the deceased was wearing a protective helmet. The precise role of substances such as alcohol or drugs in the collision has not yet been determined.
