Sequim School Board to Convene Monday Evening for Regular Meeting
The Sequim School District Board of Directors is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday in the district office board room. The agenda includes multiple administrative matters as the 2025–2026 school year approaches its close.
A key component of the meeting is the Consent Agenda, which contains several personnel updates. Among the certificated staff exiting the district are elementary and middle school educators Vanessa Grant, Andrea McCrorie, and Sonny Mundell, all of whom will depart following the conclusion of the current academic term.
The board will also vote to formalize the retirements of Ned Floeter, an administrative leader; Sonia Bittner, the district nurse; and Paul Brinkmann, a high school algebra instructor. Brinkmann’s background—including prior work in a neighboring district—has drawn attention from local residents in recent weeks.
With multiple staff transitions underway, community involvement continues to be a priority for the board. Under Section 6.01 of its meeting procedures, public comment sessions are limited to 30 minutes total. Each speaker may speak for up to three minutes.
Official guidelines clarify that public comment is intended for broad input rather than detailed discussion or debate. The board has specified that employee-specific concerns, including grievances or formal complaints, should be submitted directly to the superintendent in writing rather than raised during open forums.
The documentation notes that public comment is “a time for listening, not dialogue,” with board members reserving responses for after the session concludes.
Monday’s gathering offers attendees a chance to engage with district leadership ahead of the upcoming year. In-person guests are invited to enter through the auditorium entrance at 503 N Sequim Avenue. Virtual participation is available via Zoom, with registration required by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
Earlier reporting indicated growing interest in how staffing shifts align with broader district goals, making this month’s meeting a meaningful opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to ongoing conversations about local education.
