TACOMA, Wash. An 18-year-old man accused of killing a 16-year-old boy in a Tacoma parking garage shooting blew a kiss to the courtroom gallery as he left his first court appearance Wednesday, KIRO 7 News Seattle reported.

Jose Campos was charged with first-degree murder, nine counts of assault and firearms charges in the early Sunday shooting at a parking garage on Commerce Street, where a group of people had gathered. Witnesses told police that as many as five masked gunmen opened fire. Josiah Midgyett, 16, was killed in the shooting.

Defense attorney Jeff Kim asked the court to enter pleas of not guilty to all counts on Campos' behalf. His brother, 20-year-old Davion Campos, and Davion's wife, 19-year-old Alina Guillen, were also charged with murder and assault, with not guilty pleas entered for them as well.

Before bail was set, Midgyett's mother pleaded with the judge to keep the three suspects in custody with no bail.

Prosecutors told the court that both men are convicted felons and that Jose Campos had been shot in the hand 24 hours before the parking garage shooting. Prosecuting attorney Lisa Wagner noted the bandage he was wearing in court and said detectives believe the attack was a retaliatory shooting, adding that surveillance video shows him as one of those armed and wearing a mask.

The prosecution asked for and was granted $5 million bail for each of the Campos brothers and $1.5 million bail for Guillen, according to KIRO 7. Jose Campos blew a kiss to the gallery as he left the courtroom.

Tacoma police declined to say whether they are searching for additional suspects in the shooting.
