A Vancouver Police Department inquiry into child exploitation and abuse has resulted in a third arrest, marking a significant development in an ongoing probe that has already claimed the life of a local medical professional. This action follows the recent apprehension of a city resident and the death by suicide of a pediatrician linked to the inquiry.

According to an update from the Vancouver Police Department, investigators from the Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit executed a search warrant at a Vancouver residence on May 7. During this operation, a 61-year-old man was taken into custody.

The suspect was booked into the Clark County Jail and faces serious allegations, specifically Conspiracy to Commit Child Molestation I and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Authorities have stated that the Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit, alongside the Children’s Justice Center and Digital Forensic Investigators, has been conducting a thorough examination of electronic evidence associated with the case. Officials report that this forensic work directly facilitated the latest arrest.

The investigation, a joint effort involving the Vancouver Police Department and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, commenced in February 2026. It was initiated after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children forwarded a cyber tip regarding child sexual abuse material.

The case drew significant public attention late last month when a suspect was arrested during a pedestrian stop on April 29.

This individual remains in custody at the Clark County Jail facing multiple charges, including four counts of dealing in child pornography II, four counts of possession of child pornography, and one count of child molestation I.

The investigation subsequently identified a local pediatrician affiliated with medical facilities in the Portland and Vancouver area as a person of interest.

According to police, the pediatrician allegedly hosted events described as “naked sleepovers” involving young children at his residence in La Center.

Authorities report that the pediatrician was found deceased in Lewis County on May 2 from an apparent suicide. This occurred just one day after a felony warrant for child molestation I had been issued for his arrest.

The Vancouver Police Department has stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is being released at this time to protect the integrity of the case.

Law enforcement continues to urge anyone who is aware of a child who may have had unsupervised contact with any of the three suspects to immediately contact their local law enforcement agency.
