MOUNT VERNON, Wash. Three candidates have been shortlisted to become the next president of Skagit Valley College, the college's board announced Tuesday, Oct. 20, according to Cascadia Daily News.

The finalists are Thomas Broxson, vice president for instruction and chief academic officer at Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood; Monique Guillory, president of Dillard University, a historically Black university in New Orleans; and Christine Moxam, vice chancellor for student affairs at St. Louis Community College in Missouri.

The nationwide search began in the spring, after the board abruptly terminated the contract of former president Christopher Villa in January following three years leading the college. Former president Thomas Keegan returned to lead the college in the interim.

Students, faculty, staff and community members will be able to meet the finalists at forums next week, either in person or via Zoom, and the sessions will be recorded and posted on the Skagit Valley College website.

Guillory's public forums are set for 8 to 8:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at the Mount Vernon campus, and 2 to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Whidbey Island campus. Moxam appears at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Mount Vernon and 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, on Whidbey Island. Broxson's forums are at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in Mount Vernon and 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, on Whidbey Island.

Additional forums reserved for students, staff and faculty are also planned. More information is available at skagit.edu/leadership/presidential-search.html.
