VANCOUVER, Wash. Police are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman found with gunshot wounds at a Vancouver apartment complex as a murder-suicide, according to a news release from the City of Vancouver.

Officers responded at about 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 13 to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Northeast Neals Lane for a welfare check, the city said.

According to police, a family member reported that her sister lived at the apartment with her boyfriend, that she had missed work that day and that family members had not heard from her. Friends and family had gone to the complex earlier in the day, saw her car in the parking lot and knocked on the door, but no one answered.

Officers entered the apartment and located a male and a female with gunshot wounds. Both were deceased, the city said.

The Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is investigating the case as a murder-suicide. The Clark County Medical Examiner's Office will release the official cause and manner of death along with the identities of both individuals. Police said nothing additional is being released at this time.
